This Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) has been prepared to replace extant SPG17: Parking Standards, which was adopted by Bridgend County Borough Council on 21st September 2011.
This draft SPG retains a zonal approach to parking standards which reflects differing levels of accessibility across the County Borough. The standards have been reviewed to ensure that they provide an appropriate and proportionate basis for assessing parking demand, sustainable travel opportunities and the potential impacts of development on the highway network within the Bridgend County Borough context.
The draft SPG provides updated standards and guidance for residential and non-residential development, electric vehicle charging, disabled and accessible parking, cycle parking and powered two-wheel vehicles. It also provides more detailed guidance on parking layout and design, including provision for walking, wheeling and cycling, operational and servicing requirements.
The parking standards will expand upon the parking policies set out in the adopted Replacement Local Development Plan (RLDP) and support its implementation.
The consultation documents can be viewed on the right of your screen.
The public consultation will run for 6 weeks between 29/10/2026 and 10/12/2026.
